Customization checklist
Since iMIS 15 offers so many infrastructural advances, take time to evaluate your customizations and processes:
■ Do you rely on any stored procedures or custom web pages to update your database? Since these may behave differently in iMIS 15, allow time to test and modify them.
■ Instead of writing directly to the database, can you now achieve your ends through business objects?
■ Could you adjust your organizational processes to better leverage iMIS 15?
■ Could you replace your customization with new module functionality?
■ Could you rework your customization to use TaskCentre?
■ Could you recreate your customization through SOA or another iMIS API?
Planning checklist
■ Are you on 10.6.30.07 or higher?
■ (LAN upgrades) Do all records have corresponding records in Name_Security, Name_Security_Groups and Name_Fin? In 10.6, open Utilities > Reports and Queries > Table Maintenance and run the Add Missing Name_Fin Records and the Update Name_Security for eSeries scripts.
■ How many Full Users will you need? Since iMIS 15 is named user (not concurrent), you must have a license for all users.
■ Can any of those Full licenses be changed to the less expensive Casual licenses?
■ How many Public users will you need? Count how many active records are in your database, and compare how many active records in your database actually use e-Series: you won't have 100% of all active users accessing your site.
■ Do you have the new module references? Go to the Helpsite (http://docs.imis.com) and download the Word docs for the modules you own, as well as the New Features.
■ Do you have a test environment installed? You need one to explore the new setup and administration items that you will be managing.
■ Do you meet the system requirements for iMIS 15? You may need to get a new server or new workstations to run it.
Database checklist
■ Does each of your staff users have a record in your database, with username and password the same in System Setup as they are in the Internet Security tab?
■ Is every web login in your Internet Security table unique?
■ Are all of your batches closed?
■ Do you have your iMIS 15 license key? You won't be able to log in to iMIS without it.
■ Have you cleared out as many duplicate records and inactive records as possible?
■ Have you backed up your database?
■ Have you verified that you can restore from that backup?
Post-upgrade checklist
■ Did you walk through all of the System Setup pages as well as the setup of all the modules? There are new items that must be populated for iMIS to function properly.
■ Did you set up your Public View?
■ Did you test your installation before rolling out?
■ Did you train your staff on the new processes, such as the Event Wizard, Online Store setup, IQA, new layout and screens?
■ Have you installed the latest iMIS updates? Did you back up afterwards?
